ABOUT The franchise
The inspiration for this franchise came from our backgrounds which stems from having inspirational people who had great knowledge and passion for excellent flavours and high quality food. The Portuguese cuisine has very different ways of preparing food that is very different to things we as South Africans are used to and can allow your pallet to explode in flavours. We have also taken inspiration from the Tsonga cuisine which also has very unique ways of bringing flavours through in the way the food is prepared. D&D Supreme Chicken has decided to combine recipes from both cuisines to create new and phenomenal flavours that will bring your pallet to life, only an expression can speak louder than words. With combining our backgrounds we are bringing a new cuisine and creating a beautiful future within the hospitality industry. “Great food and phenomenal tastes gather people together.” D& D Supreme Chicken is here to bring each and every one of us together to grow and expand in this beautiful journey.
“Hard work pays off and passion creates unity.”
OUR TEAM
Fernando Rolo

I was born in Anadia, Portugal in 1963 in a county called Bairrada. Bairrada county is famous for the creation of pine charcoal barbecued chicken called “Churrasco”, as the clay oven piglet, called “Leitão”, centuries ago.
During my younger years of academic learning I went into studying a professional trade within the technical field. At the young age of 20 years during my studies I never dreamed of emigrating to South Africa which later in my life occurred when my father called upon me whilst he was living here in South Africa.
Furthermore , I wouldn’t have dreamed that I would top my trade as a manager of the most prestigious mark, Mercedes-Benz, in four different provinces as well as continuing my studies and attain the accolades I have.
I never imagined through my studies and career that I would also one day end up here pursuing to have a business that is based in the hospitality industry and within this franchise bringing the traditions of my cultural cuisine alive that I have up-held throughout my life.
As the old Portuguese proverb says ”never say from this water I will not drink.”
I share this with you as it is my outmost desire to share the great tradition and flavours of my born county. I am proud to be sharing this and showing the traditions from my humble and happy upbringing.
In my second relationship of seven happy years now , I met Khensani Kealsy Sibuyi , a young, talented, beautiful woman, with good chef qualifications and experiences. Through our quest to innovate, create jobs and happiness for others, we grew the idea of starting this franchise and are developing it at our best pace.
I don’t need motivation to work hard, every time I wake up, I thank God for his blessings, I resume to my work putting as many hours as required. I want to feel proud for being part of creating happiness through jobs for many people, as well as creating franchise opportunities to allow other people who have dreams of owning a business to pursue their dreams and make them reality.

There are many people within my village who have a great passion for food and it where you can find one of their famous grilled chickens which they call “chicken dust.” You will also find ‘braai’ stands on almost every corner of the main road. The food, mainly chicken, they sell has unique flavours which they create through using their special sauce that they marinate the chicken with which is often served with ‘pap’ and a side salad. At these stands you can either sit down for your meal or even have take-aways.
Watching these stands as a young lady I often saw many people from neighbouring villages travel just to come and enjoy this famous “chicken dust” and saw this as a great opportunity for my future to create food trailers for these people to travel and reach a wider audience so more people could experience and fall in love with their food.
The aroma and the flavours of the chicken is so inviting therefore D & D Supreme Chicken will use a similar concept, but it will be combined with Portuguese chicken recipes as well. We want to create food stands on wheels to be able to reach a large audience of customers who can enjoy great flavours within their own locations.
My experience in cooking has taught me that we all need a change of meals and flavours at least 3 times to four times a week at an affordable price and a portion that will be big enough to satisfy our hunger for longer. I am proud to embark in a journey that will bring many people together and allow for plenty of happiness.
